FAQ
Here for you...
WHAT HAPPENS IF A STUDENT IS FOUND WITH A PROHIBITED ITEM?
Our School Safety Specialists conduct searches and screenings with sensitivity and discretion, ensuring that students are treated respectfully and without pre-judgment.
If a prohibited item is found, the student and a member of school staff will be taken to a safe space for further investigation.
Our approach is to handle all incidents with care and understanding, balancing the need for security with the dignity and well-being of the students.
HOW LONG DOES THE SEARCHING AND SCREENING TAKE?
The time required to search and screen students depends on the number of students involved. During the consultation phase, time frames are discussed, and the goal of Snapcheck is to complete the entire process, including setup, an optional social education lecture, and setup deconstruction, within 4.5 hours.
The company strives to minimise disruptions and maximise efficiency while ensuring the safety and security of the students and staff.
HOW WOULD YOU MANAGE A STUDENT WHO REFUSES A SEARCH?
Our School Safety Specialists are trained to handle even the most challenging situations.
In the event that a student refuses to be searched or exhibits inappropriate behaviour, they will be escorted by a designated member of the school staff to a safe space to determine the reason.
We handle all situations with care and professionalism, ensuring the safety and well-being of the students while ensuring the security of the school.
WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY?
The school assembly is an important aspect of the Snapcheck process as it provides an opportunity for the headteacher, school safety lead, and facilitators to explain to the students the reason for the search and screening, but also to address important societal issues that may be affecting the school, the local community, or the country.
The assembly can be delivered independently of the search and screening process or can be scheduled for a later date. This provides a valuable platform for educating and empowering students, promoting safety and security, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
HOW MANY SNAPCHECKS SHOULD A SCHOOL HAVE?
We recommend a minimum of two to three searching and screening events per academic year. These events can be pre-arranged or delivered with at least two to three days' notice.
In case a school is concerned about students carrying weapons or there is a high incidence of weapon-carrying in the area, the school can arrange for an emergency call-out service, with a 48-hour turnaround. This allows the school to take proactive measures to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
IS SNAPCHECK ONLY FOCUSED ON SEARCHING AND SCREENING STUDENTS IN SCHOOL?
Snapcheck's services extend beyond searching and screening students within schools. We also offer our expertise at various events such as open days, sports days, parent evenings, and school proms, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees. Additionally, Snapcheck delivers personal safety seminars for teachers and workshops covering a range of pertinent topics.
DOES THE WHOLE SCHOOL HAVE TO BE SEARCHED?
Schools have the flexibility to choose the scope of Snapcheck's searching and screening services. They can opt to search and screen the entire school or just focus on one or two specific student year groups.
HOW EXPERIENCED ARE THE STAFF WHO CARRY OUT THE SEARCHES?
This includes training on risk assessment, de-escalation and conflict, safeguarding, and report writing, ensuring that they are equipped to handle a wide range of situations while maintaining the safety and well-being of students and staff.
All our personnel are Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checked, professional, personal referenced and qualification checked, ensuring that they have the necessary experience and qualifications to provide an effective and efficient service.
